First Brew for a While

Post by Gadders » Wed Nov 25, 2015 3:04 pm

Its been a while since I last did a brew and even longer since I was last on JBK.
So here goes:

23 L batch
4.5 kg Pale ale male
300 g carabelge
60 g carafa special 1

Mashed at 66-67 c for 75 mins

Hops:
All bobek 6.3% alpha
50 g 30 mins
35 g 15 mins
15 g turnoff

Managed to get 24 L into the fermentor at 1.042 so quite happy with that. All though I realised that I forgot the protafloc. Never forgot this before but guessing it will not be a problem?

72 h ferment, but hazy from the yeast but hoping this clears nicely. liking the colour of this.

Looks and sounds pretty tasty. What yeast did you use?

In the past I have had good success with the brewlabs yeast. But I thought I havnt brewed for a while so went with the safer route of some dried yeast. The malt miller has something called NBS ale yeast. Seams good so far. They munched through the wort in a couple of days! The hops have come through nicely so I am hoping this will stick around when its ready to drink.

Sounds like this will be a tasty pint with some nice body to go with. Let me know how it turns out.

Happy brewing,

Ben.
