So managed to get my ar$e in gear and get the first brew of the year on. Stocks are pretty much zero right now.
Looking at my log, I brewed 15 times in 10 months from July 2014 to May 2015, then only 3 brews since. Hit a bad spell, 1 down the drain, 1 not great but drinkable and I have a 7.5% IPA which is either slight "off" (tastes warm / hot) but still drinkable
So back to basics tonight, no chocolate malt which I have probably over-used in my last few brews.
Strike water is on, plan is to overnight mash and finish in the morning.

BIAB # 19 - Challenge Bob
Re: BIAB # 19 - Challenge Bob
Looks like a nice recipe, challenger/fuggle/golding is one of my favourite combo's and i have been developing a house bitter with them but was planning on switching the golding to styrian golding/bobek for the next iteration. My only suggestion would be as you have 2 additions of bobek at 10 mins to move one to the 0 min aroma steep or maybe swap for the fuggle or challenger. Or even save some for a dry hop.

Cheers Ben. Gives some confidence on the hop choice.BrewerBen wrote:Looks like a nice recipe, challenger/fuggle/golding is one of my favourite combo's and i have been developing a house bitter with them but was planning on switching the golding to styrian golding/bobek for the next iteration. Will tweak the additions.
Re: BIAB # 19 - Challenge Bob
turned out to be a really good brew day. Fermentation has well and truly kicked off and the fruity aromas are filling the cupboard under the stairs.
Looking forward to getting this bottled and trying it out.

Re: BIAB # 19 - Challenge Bob
bottled this tonight, 36 bottles ABV of ~6.3%.
Sample is quite dry, and quite orangey - will be interested to see how it turns out. The smell during fermentation was really fruity.

Re: BIAB # 19 - Challenge Bob
That sounds fantastic, nicely done. Which yeast did you go with?
Re: BIAB # 19 - Challenge Bob
Cheers Seymour. Went with Notty in the end.
Must admit, i did sample a few last weekend and although pretty green the flavour os amazing. Oats add loads of body and my biggest flame out hop to date carried a real orangy, citrusy punch.
Got very high hop-es for this one (boom boom)

Sounds tasty! What did you do about the 10 min Bobek after?
