My Favourite Brew Yet

Post by Gadders » Tue Feb 09, 2016 5:25 pm

Hi Everyone,

This is the second brew I've done after recently getting back into brewing and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it! The brewday went really smoothly and to top it off I think this beer had been my favourite yet. I wanted to try something different to the ales I normally make, I went for a nice easy to drink hefewizen.

2 kg Wheat malt
3 kg ale Malt
50g mittlefruh 3.6% @10 min
50 mittlefruh 3.6% @flame out
1 pk Mangroves jack (M20 - bavarian wheat)
SG 1.042
FG 1.011
I got nearly 25 L into the fermentor and fermented for 4 days a 18c then cooled to 4c ish for another 2days, primed and bottled.

I havent seen the mangroves jack yeast before but I am liking this. After 2 weeks conditioning in the bottle the beer has started to develop those lovely fruity wheat beer character but still has a smooth mouthfeel without being sweet, well impressed.
