What a complete ball ache of a brew day
I added 3 teaspoons of gypsum to my mash water and gave up when the ph didn't change at all :?

I started batch 1 addition and then thought, how am I going to recirc this to get clear wort, through an already cooler HE. I could pre heat the HE...aha...then I thought about attaching and detaching all the hoses...and then the finally I though...... feck it

So, I didn't do a batch sparge...what I did was awe inspiring
I opened the mash tun valve fully and sent my 80 deg sparge water through the return manifold as fast as the little Totton pump could manage.
10 minutes later and 51+ltrs of sparge water used and I had about 63.5ltr of wort collected 8)
I measured the gravity at 1032 and thought s88t feck busturd, even evapouration wont rescue me from this disaster......
What I had fogotten was the 1kg+ of invert sugar added at the 1 hour mark 8) 8)
Ended with 50ltrs in the copper and managed 46ltrs to fv, which was a good result. My manifold tinkerings have saved an extra 3 ltrs from the drain 8)

And the SG......1048 :pink: target was 1044

V1's....new fast sparging technique, as sort of amalgum of spinny and batch...but it worked
Ps, I collected the last 3.5ltrs of wort from the sparge seperately and the gravity was 1012, so another good result there.

More to tell, but off to watch supernatural in a mo

I have no idea what you are trying to describe but congratulations anyway

I wil be trying this fast sparging again. Today I got similar results to when I normally take 40 minutes to sparge, but in 10 minutes

I love my cornies 8)

Buying a 'few' of them has enabled me to get well ahead of myself regards proper primary/secondary and maturing stages

My Flowers will be coming out of secondary and going to corny a full one month after birth

A record for me
