So tomorrow I feel i'm going to be doing my first proper brew in the new brew shed.
I've scaled the ABV back for two reasons. 1, I want to drink lower ABV beers and 2, I usually smash my mash efficiency and end up with a higher ABV than planned.
Brew length: 25l
OG: 1.036
FG: 1.009
ABV: 3.6%
MO: 4.414kg
60 mins
Willamette 5.4% - 20g
Chinook 12.6% - 15g
15 mins
Willamette 5.4% - 40g
Chinook 12.6% - 26g
20 min steep @ 80C
Willamette 5.4% - 50g
Chinook 12.6% - 30g
Cascade 7.4% - 40g
The flag will be hoisted
And brew day will commence!
The HERMS is built and calibrated.
I've made a 2l yeast starter from yeast out of 4 bottles of Proper Job and got a recipe from Brewers Friend.

Very neat HERMS. If my ACE boiler ever gives up duties as a recirculating mash tun I might have to think about a similar set up.
And the shed looks like a very peaceful place to brew without constant raised eyebrows, sighs, and comments about the garage not been cleared out

How did this beer turn out?
My yeast from proper job bottles made my tribute clone taste like hoe garden.
Very nice in the end but not what i was after.
I think st Austell may be using a different yeast to clear the bottle.

Re: Brewers Friend Proper Jobish
I tried it after it had been in the bottle for four days, even then it was fantastic!
One of the best beers I've made.
Probably do with a bit more bitterness to get it closer to the real thing, but I loved it!
