AG#29 - Summer Ale
Since my last brew, I have been watching lot's of youtube videos about the Grainfather (the almost all in one brewing system ), because I need to reduce the physical size of my kit for storage between brews, and I also want to try and shorten my brewday if possible. I also like the ability to be able to easily brew small 10L batches if I fancy.
So this will be my final brew on my 3V kit, and it almost turned out perfectly with regards to hitting nearly all of my numbers, except for the OG that actually ended up 1 point higher than planned
I wanted to brew something fairly straight forward, as I have picked up some of the Bairds Heritage Maris Otter malt that I got from the Malt Miller recently, so I wanted to see if it had any more flavour than the normal Crisp MO that I have used before.

I checked the gravity on day 8 and day 12, and it was stable at 1.012.
Thought it might finish a bit lower, but I'm happy with a 3.7% bitter.
The taste from the trial jar was ok, but I wanted a bit more of that nice fragrant taste/aroma that you get from Celeia, so I have dropped a 25g dry hop straight into the FV for a few days before kegging/bottling.

I thought that I should stick a picture of this brew on here before it's all gone!
It has been a very easy drinking beer, but with plenty of flavour for the relatively simple recipe and my favourite aspect is the floral hop flavour from the Celeia

MB - brewed this today. Smelt great. I still can't get decent efficiency on my gf. Ended up with 24l at 1036. Added 500g sugar to give a slight boost.

Hi MG,
The best I've had so far is 73% Brewhouse Efficiency, but David Heath says that the correct grain crush has a big effect on efficiency.
My current 12L Irish Extra Stout didn't go to plan and I missed my OG by 6 point's, so ended up adding some candi sugar that I luckily had to hand.
I did my first 90 minute boil on a British Golden Ale that I recently brewed and am now drinking, and it really seem to have enhanced the grainy flavour of the malt, yum!
I'll be interested to hear how your brew turns out.
