Grumpy Bum is in the FV. Overshot my target OG by quite a bit, had calculated for 75% eff which would have given me 1047, i've ended up with 25L at 1054  an 87% efficiency. The only thing I did differently today was a much slower run off into the boiler (1 hour) from the MT, may be it was that :?:

Oh well I wanted a 4.5% abv but think i'll get something around 5.2% abv this one has a nice biscuity taste it could end up being a nice strong Autumnal brew on a cold night

So this weekend i've managed to get 10 gallons brewed.

As the great Gordon Ramsay would say :

Double Effing Brew Weekend....DONE!

I see what you're saying but how would I know when to stop sparging?

I use a spinny.

but it was sooo funny. I'll have to live with my conscience though
I saw the funny side eventually, it took some time and a fair few pints but I can laugh about it now!

It wasn't so much the wind that crumpled it but the weight of the pea sized hailstones that were hitting it! I took the cover off the thing and it resembled a giant aluminium spider that had been mangled by a cat!

Well done Wez, i was toying with the idea of using extra grain from now on to improve the quality of my beer but i wasn't quite sure either how i would know when to stop sparging or how much extra grain to use. You had a good fruitful weekend Wez will you have time to drink all the beer once mini Wez 2 comes along?

 Probably not but when the opportunity is there to have one or two I want them to be good one's.

I'm off work in a couple of weeks to finish the nursery I'm going to try to get two brews done then also. That should leave me with loads conditioning. The idea is to have enough so I don't need to brew for a few months once Ronnie Wriggler arrives. 8)

Back to the brewkettle.....I'm brewing another Irish Red Ale from my yeast cake off of my last one tomorrow and Monday I'm going to brew a Schwartzbier using the yeast from my Sunset Wheat clone and then I will evaluate fermenter space and maybe get my Allagash White Clone done later in the week......ImageImage

I've kegged both of these beers this morning, both ended at 1010 which means that the TLCTwist is 4.7% abv and the Grumpy Bum is 5.7% abv thhe Grumpy Bum is much stronger that I was aiming for it'll be interesting to see how it turns out at this strength

Do you ever sleep
Mini Wez decided that she's had enough sleep at 5.50 this morning so I made good use of the time, off to the brewery later for a few pints then a meal, I suspect sleep will follow shortly after that  :D
