Are you planning on going AG or Extract or both?

The temptation is to go the same way as most of you guys, that is AG. But extract is also an option because i did a porter years ago and it was so tasty but i still stuck to kits even after tasting that, dont know why maybe it always the easier option.

That's the beauty of this sort of brewing, you can brew whatever the hell you like, you needn't be constrained by what the manufacturer gives you! I reckon a porter would be a good place to start whatever method you adopt as the dark colour and rich taste will mask any little flaws that creep into the brew. Don't let the mention of "flaws" put you off though I'm pretty new to this game and each subsequent brew is "the best yet", I'm sure you'll think so with your brews too.
