I couldn't really start butchering the coolbox as we still actually use ours for keeping stuff cold (beer mainly

) so I had to stick with my lauter tun.
You'll have to keep us posted on what you decide to go with. If you do end up joining the rest of us on the dark side remember the first rule of grain club - If this is your first AG brew then you have to post pictures

Another great post there JP and a successful brew day by the looks of it.
Its these little photo journals that help to demystify the process so much more than a load of words (picture / thousand words and all that)
I'm chomping at the bit to get into AG at the moment, but I have a bit of a beer glut at the moment (and the problem is?) plus 2 kits I've promised myself I'd do before that. Roll on autumn...

Next Up : Something for the summer
Primary : Nothing
Secondary / Conditioning : Nothing
Drinking : Mosaic IPA

Quick Update
I have just bottled this one at 1.012 it's going to be one for my lager drinking friends I think; it's very light with a pleasant faint flowery aroma. At around 4.5%ABV it should hit the spot nicely.

well i know its a bit late for me to come in here but i will anyways .
i am very impressed with the ease you documented everything it will certianly convince other kits and kilo brewers to try it .
AG is not that hard and as long as you are organised it will come together i am on to my 5th AG now and i just love the smoother taste and better balance you get compared with kits .Being in australia british beers are harder in kit form as you get what you get and although they are good they are off the mark IMHO.
well done j-p very nice and you kept it simple which is the core to the whole process .

Cheers for your words of encouragement Richard, AG may seem daunting at first but once you've taken the plunge its easy.

Here is the brew after a week in the bottle. One thing I have noticed with AG brewing is that it's the gift that keeps on giving, each subsequent brew gets better

j-p thats a very light golden beer there almost as lite as a cerveza
i am up to my 5th AG now and boy they just get better and betterah i must say
without this site i must say i would still be toying with the idea as most other sites you need to be a rocket scientist "so they recon" with all the techno babbel .lucky for me i like to brew and keep it simple now i am on the dark side the jump wasn't that hard at all .
looks great, love the photos, enjoy let us know how it tastes?

Quick update chaps
I've sampled a sneaky bottle of this one tonight. It's been in the bottle three weeks and for all it's a little green it's pretty tasty.
If brewed this again I'd up the IBU's a little as it's not very bitter. Come to think of it it'd be one to offer the lager boys in a couple of weeks time when it's matured a bit.

Nice one JP

Its a great beer, that gets better with time(though its seems that is always the case)
Its seems to be the night to be popping beers a bit early

I did notice you'd popped a bottle of yours earlier and it sounded a little more interesting than this one. I wonder why there's was no bitterness in my brew? It's great if you like lager but I prefer my beer with a bit more balls

The Bluebird beer I did has a bitter backbone, but not to the point of not noticing the rounded aroma hopping, kind of like a like the balance of a good pilsner(yes I know folks they taste nothing alike, but the comparison is valid)
Your 100% satisfection to you tastes sounds like you need more hops in for the full boil. Though you have got to admit a 100% golding brew has a taste all of its own(which I am a big fan of) and they make the best tasting shandys ever(I will get burned for that comment)
On a side note I don't include late addition hops in my IBU calcs. I personally feel the variables of utilisation at such a late stage in the boil, can be misleading to a newish brewer like ourselves

I think you hit the nail on the head there P2. Still it goes to show that you live and learn. My good lady friend loves the stuff apparently so all is not lost

Brownie points all round then, having a beer the wife enjoys makes life better.
I am thinking I may rebrew 100% satisfaction again as ag1 went a tad boobs north. And I think I will take your comments about the bittering on board too
