One thing I will say is that it's as easy to brew up a 23l batch a it is to brew a 5l one, I'm hoping that the same is true of brewing 10 gallons opposed to five!

I can't stress enough how lucky I have probably been so far. If you are going 10 Gal's and don't have a pumped system. Consider roping in help! I have two set up's a 5 Gallon and a 10 Gallon. FWIW I rarely do 10 Gal's these days unless someone is around to help incase I need help. I.e. If I forgot to fit my hop strainer and instead of using a hop sock, I decided to drain 10Gal's of hot wort to re fit it, and restart the boil, it becomes a much larger task. (OK so I could probably drain into two smaller bins - but you get the picture?). There's the extra possibility to hurt your back, the additional extra boiling liquid in a nasty boil over scenarios to contend with. But then for the additional ingredients there's also 80 pints ot drink instead if 40 for much the same investment of timeAndy wrote:
However, with 10 gallons you're then into the territory of "very heavy things" at various stages in the process so need to work out how you're going to move heavy quantities of grain/liquor/wort around in a safe manner.
