great documentation there Si, looks like a good one.
I was thinking about getting one of those flip open thermometers as the probe is replaceable, are they any good ? are you happy with yours?

Hi Garth,
Thermo is OK, though the build quality doesn't feel all that robust, then again it is pretty cheap. I'm on the 2nd replaceable probe - don't get the braided lead wet, it runs into the top of the probe and screws it up. Decent enough for the money

. Easier than spirits, that's for sure.

cheers for that Si, I use one with a probe on a lead, but it keeps breaking inside the cable near the probe body, it comes apart easy enough and you can chop and solder it, but it's only about half the length it was as I've repaired it about four times now....

Whoah, replaceable probe? I've got one of those tempo's and dropped the probe into a brew second time out and it's never worked again. Where do you get them, then?
Great report SiHoltye - I'm doing your Briar's Best tomorrow.

I knew someone would ask that! Had a look and it was from Thermometers Direct, spare probes
here. Bottom of the page.

in everyones life there should be balance - and this is clearly the case for SH.
on the one side he wins prizes for his beer...
...but there'll be no prizes for his bread slicing skills
