The last lot of this I brewed was my first ever AG and it came out lovely - even though I drank it far too early. This time, I can't touch it for a while as I'm away on my hols.

Well, I kegged the new Northdown Wonder this evening as I'm off to France tomorrow. It's mellowed out a lot, is down to 1008 and the umm......sample...(yeah that's it!).....few pints that are left that didn't fit into the corny are tasting pretty nice even warm and flat.

I've also tried a pint of my Crossbreed this evening (after a week or so in the keg) - and that's bloody lovely. Well chuffed with it.

So. Off to France, have left the chiller fridge with 4 cornys in it to await my return:

BobGoblin - almost out of this one. OK taste, but came out too thin for my tastes.

Fuggin Ale - cracking MO and Fuggles brew. Pretty strong though....but tastes excellent. Halfway done on the keg

Crossbreed - MO/LagerMalt Northdown/FirstGold - gorgeous ultra pale summer ale. Full keg

Northdown Wonder - as above. Full keg

I'm going to miss my homebrews for the next 2 weeks, but hopefully the wine in Froggie will make up for it. Got some family coming round the day after we get back, and they're known for their love of beer. They don't know I've taken up brewing yet, so I'm hoping to do some stealth serving to see what they think before coming out of the closet!

Surprisingly, Southern Brittany has lots of decent beer and cider!

Many, many local micro breweries - mainly putting out blondes and blanches. Some not bad ones either....

Ad many, many, many, many ciders too....seems like every second farm is selling good quality bottles of highly carbed, dry cider.

All in all, not bad at all!

I've been drinking the NW over the weekend - and it's come out absolutely lovely.

It's better than my first attempt at this brew - much smoother. Although the first version was good in it's own right! I think the main difference is that in the first version i ended up with a LOT of trub in the FV.

Anyway - the thing that surprises me a bit is that I get a really nice peachy undertone in this - it's kind of like one of the Badger beers - Golden Glory or Golden Promise (can't remember which) but more subtle. Even the wife like it....and she's no fan of beer.

Thanks for the update, it's always good to hear how these things turn out.
