First taste of this beer....
From one of the bottles.......Wow!
This is going to be super. It's a lovely light gold colour, not quite clear yet (US05) and pours very sparkling, almost like a champagne head (could be because the bottles have been at a warm room temp, not cold.
Big aroma of tropical fruit, very smooth first taste. Almost creamy with hints of peach, gooseberry and smooth maltiness. This hop combo is fantastic and this beer would make a superb summer ale. There's also a very slight lingering blackberry aroma to it. This sounds like a bowl of fruit salad, but it's really, really tasty.

That sounds excellent, Alasdair.
What's the aftertaste like? I can't get enough of those hoppy pale ales with the complex hop finishes.

Fermenting: nowt (sadly). Drinking: still a few bottles of my imperial stout knocking about . . . it's rather good now

Alisdair: Made this beer two weeks ago and have been very happy indeed with the results! As has everyone I've given it to. Definitely one to repeat.adm wrote:After yesterday's trials and tribulations I had another go to try and get my kit dialed in.
I knocked up a quick recipe that I hope will give me a nice dry, strong "New World" IPA:
Nelson's Gem
Grain:
5.5kg Maris Otter
250g Vienna Malt
150g Wheat Malt
Thanks!
