Just to echo what others have said, nice work! I like the laid back presentation style. 8)

I am glad you all seem to like it and that it has even helped some of you. :)

Like I said previously, I will hopefully make another one when I come to bottle it. Seems a shame to cut it short after the great response.

As you do a lot of bottling it should be easy to propagate from one brew to the next. It just takes a little planning to make a yeast starter a few days/week before you plan to brew. My personal favourite is Wyeast 1275.

How does this propagation process work, does anyone have any a good link so i can read up on it. Ta
Making up a Wyeast Starter (to make multiple brews from your yeast culture) by Jim

6.7 Yeast from Commercial Beers - ditto

You can recover yeast from your own bottle conditioned beers. I also collect the yeast from the bottom of my secondary FV, wash it and then bottle it (with water) and store it the fridge - very similar to what Jim describes above.

For my last brew I used such a bottle that was ~5 months old and the yeast starter was at high krausen in 2-3 days. I know some will say that I shouldn't get away with this, but I am careful to discard any bottles where the yeast has started to brown (autolysis) and there is always enough yeast in the bottle for it to be viable. Typically it means I can go 5-6 brews before I buy a new pack, beyond this might be pushing my luck (yeast mutation, infection) I think.

Nicely done, a video is worth a thousand words with something as hands on as brewing.

As I said on the other link...

That was great. Thanks for posting it. =D>

It takes the worry out of the process for me - I'm really inspired to give all grain a go now I've actually seen how straightforward the process is. Books always make it seem complicated, but watching you brew makes me think that even I could do it :D

I really want to give this a go now...

Bugger, now I need to spend more money

Really chilled vid, well done. MO, Crystal, touch of Sugar, Chall, Fugg, ...can't fall of it 8) Stuff like this cropping up de-mystifies elements for people new on the scene. Fab, well done again. How come the boil time was cut from 90 to 60? Was she getting the hump  Come on us yard brewers!

Great video
Nice to see some ordinary bloke in a shed/garage brewing with basic equipment and explaining it so well
So what happened with the beer, you must`ve bottled and even tested by now
Cheers

The only reason reason did 60 min instead of 90 was purely to shave some time off the process. I had some other stuff to get on with. Luckily she was off work that day, although if I say I am having a brew day she lets me get on with it. :D

Yes I have. I was going to do the bottling video but I am afraid this thing got in the way :D Image

This is Jacob (the reason I called the beer Jacob) he came a bit earlier than expected.

I ended up putting the brew in a pressure barrel which is a first for me, since I haven't had time to bottle it. Its been conditioning about 3 weeks now. I had a little sample the other day. Its probably the best one I have done yet out of the 20+ all grain brews I have done.

After the response this video has got I am determined to a bottling video.
