I was very surprised when reading the recipe that it was so simple

but I'm glad I had the chance to taste at the Cambridge Beer Festival to remind me of its flavour profile. I'm drinking Toasted Oatmeal Stout (A Chris-G Recipe) although he defers to another brewer for the inspiration. I noted you have a Chocolate Oatmeal Stout on the list and I would really urge you to do something with the Oatmeal as it brings a depth of complexity to the stouts that makes them taste like nectar. The Oatmeal recipe is not from Graham's book so can you spill the beans or Oats

on the recipe you intend to use?
Cheers

Yeah im not sure quite what im going to do with it at the moment, it was an idea when we were talking about it at work alog with the ginger IPA. Ill have to do some investigations and see what i come up with. The idea was born quite a while ago when i was in my local drinking some Castle Rock Blackbird and another beer that for the life of me cant remember, but it had a chocolatey after-taste and what i wanted to do was combine them both into a single stout (may end up a porter).
Once ive come up with a recipie ill have to post it on here for feedback before i get set about it!

Fantastic, I got my own experimenting to do this afternoon I get the feeling.
I would like to do a simple bitter with Nettles instead of/or complementing the hops. But Stinger beer style recipes it seems are hard to come by. I've been bitching about "Country Wines" calling themselves beer and getting no results when searching Google on a proper nettle beer recipe I may just have to go out and do the research myself.
The Ginger sounds interesting. They had a beer with a hint of ginger at the Cambridge beer festival as well and it seemed to go down really well, so well in fact that they had run out by day two...lol

Might give it a go this weekend. Need to clean my beer lines though as they haven't been used for months!
