Damn the expense IPA

Drinking a bottle of this stuff as i type. I can't do the stereotypical tasting assessment jargon, so here's what i think to it:

Perfect carbonation for me, not too fizzy. First taste; Fruit.....lots of fruit, with a powerful malty mouth-feel. Then a big robust bitterness. Not a puckering type of bitterness, but a smooth bold bitterness.
Those tasting notes don't really do it justice. Great beer pants, A thoroughly enjoyable pint

In my opinion, this type of high IBU aged beer gives a unique result that i had never tasted until recently. Well worth the wait.........and the expense! Although at Rob's prices, not so expensive any more

For anyone reading this who hasn't made them. BEWARE. IPA'a will take over your life if you let them!

Edit- Didn't open the evil twin last night Nick. Massive depression at going offshore is not the time to be drinking good beer and being positive! It'll be on my things to look forward to list on this trip.

Well Pants, that is something to aspire to!
But first, I hope you are overcoming the misery of having your arse over the water again.

Finally opened the bottle last night when she got home from work, I was forbidden to open it while she wasn't here...
Like Jubby, I am no Oz Clark, and she is no Jilly Goolden, but here are our comments, first from her coz I woz a jentelman and let her have first go:

"It's not one of those that smells like a toilet, it's nice and fruity" - she means not chemical
"A bit dry on the tongue - it's a bit wallopy isn't it?" - she means strong
"Needs to be drunk on a full stomach - which is why I'm not having any more, but I quite like it!" - buga!

And me:
Like the labels, have you gone from ink-jet to laser?!
Clear and well conditioned - poured slowly and with a rich creamy head.
Extremely smooth, full and well balanced.
Whole mouth taste, sweet and malty at the front, bitterness from the hops at the back.
I have got to try this....

In the meantime, you might have noticed my post saying that my Serious IPA seems to have stuck at 1.022 - any ideas? It might be risky getting some in a bottle to send to you!!

Thanks again Befuggled.Much appreicated, i'm still inkjetting and very glad about the 'not like a chemical toilet' portion of the review. From that starting point the skys the limit!

I've been thinking about US-05 and its performance. I seem to get it pretty consistently down to 1.013 to 1.011. I've read your brewday again and can only guess that there must be higher sugars present and plenty of them from the mash. Over the winter i was getting down to 1.013 at 13 deg C. I still think its worth trying one more packet and upping temp to 24 deg. Can't remember if i have been up there at 1.085 as a SG for this yeast but i don't think so.

Taken exactly as meant(i'm not that Scottish you know)! I've had similar comments from my wife. Strangley she's still not built up an aversion to drinking the beer....

I cleaned one of the sheds out the other day and found 3 bottles of this beer. Its 10 months old now and this particular bottle is still bitter! I had one a couple of months ago and it was very malty. Just goes to show. In this one i'm getting bitter with smooth mouthfeel and there's still a blackcurrant thing going on from the Bramling X! This is a huge beer, almost Belgian like in its depth(right enough of the Goodson pish, top beer go and make it you won't regret it)!
