well I went against my better judgement and did the malts as per recipe, but its not the same as the cask pint I had a little while ago.
I would have said that it was purely pale malt (or with adjuncts that dont impart colour).

It'll be fine either way, the malts are really just the background for this one, it's all about the hops baby! :)

Now you mention styrians, I might just throw a handful in at flame out... you know, just for good measure! ;-)

Be interesting to hear how this turns out...

I like the pub version but wonder if anyone has tried recreating something along the lines of the bottled version which is 4.4% IIRC...?

Is it just a case of addding extra malt to get the right OG and balancing the hops?

I'm thinking of mashing (and hopping) for a 23 litre batch but only aiming for a final volume of 18-19l... Would this work? I think it would give the OG I'm looking for?

Cheers!

mines come ok out, but cloudy.
think I forgot the copper salts :(

taste-wise, its not the same, but I didnt want it to be the same.
mines very bitter - good.
aroma wise its not good enough, think i left it in FV too long.
would do a hop tea perhaps next time to retain that.
