I grew a rhyzome from the very same Fatcontroller and it grew like a kid with a welly full of cow shit, unfortunately i was working away when they were ready to harvest and i missed getting the cones this time

Well I drank quite a lot of this at the weekend. I have to say it's quite nice, very drinkable and the hop character is interesting, good earthy flavour more like goldings than cascade really but it does have a grapefruit note to it. Not a lot of aroma though, makes me think that perhaps the cones were picked a tad too late and the oils had already started to deteriorate.

I think the malt bill lets it down a bit. 6% medium crystal may just be a tad heavy for this hoppy beer as it's very caramelly, maybe i should have dropped it to about 4% and possibly lightened the caramel character up a bit with some pale crystal or caramalt. That or mashed a little lower and dried the beer out a bit more.

Still, a nice, tasty pale ale. Looking forward to doing something different with next year's crop :)
