Hey Dave thats pretty much very similar to a stout I brewed on friday night.
You've more bitterness than mine but I got more roast barley than you :)
Also used challanger insted of your fuggles alongside of the target!
Nice one

Looks good.

Tell your Emma that cornies are a better investment in the long run. They cost the same or less as a KK (but you do need to sort out gas and a reg) up front, but you won't ever need to replace them. They'll pay for themselves in the long term, whereas you'll probably end up frustrated with KKs in the end.

Still a good head on it but thought Id take a sample anyway (I wanted a taste!) . Oh good lord! this stuff tastes amazing! its only down to 1.024 but DAMN! hers a real tobacco smoked oak, coffee flavour and the aroma is an expensive full bodied red wine!

Leave it where ever it is until the new year ;) I'm assured that is 'Best Practice' :D

Down to 1.022 today. Still showing signs of fermentation so it can stop where it is for the weekend!

that's some amazing yeast activity in the picture, I've only used S04 once myself and only got a light froth on a 4% bitter, I'm doing a Guinness clone soon, is S04 a good one to use? I found it to be very attenuative and I suppose Guinness is meant to be dry

I used S04 because thats what I had. Im intending having a go at liquid yeasts soon so next time I brew a stout I may try WLP004.

I cant believe this is STILL fermenting!! Its slowed right down to a crawl so I don't think Its got long left but it has to be the longest fermentation period Ive ever had! 11 days and counting!

Looks delicious, and much better than the dark brew I just polished off from the supermarket!

Just taken another 'sample' and its dropped another 2 points to 1.018 putting it at bang on 6%! I may just pop a staw in the top of the secondary FV and start supping now!

That is true but the regulators, gas etc dont come cheap. This ones going in bottles at the weekend. Maybe then I wont be quite as tempted to sup it all now! lol

Well, Its all bottled and would you believe it, I'd not cleaned enough bottles!

SWMBO has a pop at me for drinking during the week but even she's agreed it'd be a waste of 2.5 pints!

In the 4 days since I last sampled the sharp coffee flavours and after tastes have mellowed a huge amount! I'm almost tempted to take some to the in laws for Christmas!
