Would this give me sufficient hop punch in the brew without risking DMS encroaching on the flavour?
Take the leap of faith and get all the IBUs from just one single addition 70-80g of in the last 15 mins will still give you aroma (it won't all have boiled away trust me).
On your head be it Del - I'll take the plunge  I was looking at the recipe for your BBQ brew and noticed it had just the one hop addition in that.

New hop schedule now reads

70g Challenger @ 15 Mins ~20 IBU

Crank it up to 80g and that will give you 23 IBUs, thats smack in the middle of the range you were looking for.
'Who dares wins' as delboy would say :D

The brew has just been renamed "Who Dares Wins"

Sparge water is on mash should finish somewhere in the next half hour depending on when the sparge water comes up to temperature.

Boil is on chaps. Three tier sparging is the future, it's freed up my left arm for drinking.

Today I are are mainly drinking Jolly Roger

Another "Pub Quality" pint from the barefoot brewery, the US05 really lets the challenger shine through - cheers for the tip Steve

80g Hops ready to go into the boiler in around 20-25 minutes, it's definately the most hops I've added to a brew at once.

Im probably stating the bleeding obvious but make sure you break that chunk all up so when the hit the wort they will be ready to give of their lovely flavours and bitterness :D

Now you tell me

This brew seemed to be a comedy of errors in the last 20 minutes, firstly the boiler cut out and came back on again so I have no idea if my IBU's will be on target. Then I decided to cool my wort and pass it through the hop bed for a second time to remove the cold break the hop strainer buggered up so I had to sterilise a sieve and pout it through that! Once I'd got it all tucked up and put away the fecking little dog disappeared (we found the little turd factory in the end). How come this sort of crap only seems to happen to me? I need another beer!

Anyhoo there's 25l of 1042 wort tucked up in the dining room.

Glad you had a good day (ish) - bad stuff doesn't just happen to you. Believe me! All the way back up the M1 today I looked forward to sitting out on the patio with a beer, when we got home I found an injured collared dove on the patio and a Benson chomping at the bit, the dove scuttled under a bush with sharp needles on it so I can't get to it Benson knows where it is so he can't help himself but be a nob, so indoors drinking it is tonight.

Can you not drink on the patio by yourself?

 no  , perhaps I should explain, Benny is THE most highly strung Springer I've ever met, while it's good fun and he's great he wouldn't be able to handle me in the garden/pation and him not with me he'd whinge for England! He's currently lay upside down on his back on my feet, think he's missed me today. My brother came round earlier to play with him for a couple of hours and Benson wore him out
