Looks like it is near enough all brewed out - will put in barrel on sunday. Brewers yeast didnt have the fairy liquid reaction :D

Had a taste of the drops left on the hydrometer and think I may have over done something - quite a smoky, but very pleasant, taste. Not having used 3 of the ingredients before which one of the following is guilty:

Amber Malt 250g
Wheat malt 250g
Chocolate Malt 50g

:beer

Looks like a great recipe!

QUOTE 'Well-balanced and complex, this medium bodied bitter is malty, fruity and hoppy throughout. Amber coloured, it is drier and more bitter at the end'.

After reading that, it sounds like just what the Dr. ordered! I need to brew this.

Not sure what would give a smoky flavor?! But I'll bet it won't be in the finished product!

Still has a slight smoky taste but I like it. Having had a look through DL book saw in the Shepherd Neame Best bitter recipe a comment about smoky malt flavour and there is amber malt in the recipe - must be that then.

Overall very pleased with my first non recipe brew ( even if the brewery told me the ingredients but not quantitys ) :D
