I didn't take the steeping hops out of the freezer before time to add them. They're the gold foil vacuum packed brick type. So now I have a 40g floating brick of Cascade steeping on my brew. I keep trying to break it up with my placcy spoon but it has resisted so far!

All done. Left the lid on fermentor outside to fall from 30deg to 20deg before pitching. 25L @ 1.042. Don't 'spose the wife will agree to 2 fermentation chambers eh? Don't think I'll ask.

Just drank the hydro sample. 1.018 after 44 hours. Tastes yum. Light, not thin, sweetish but will get drier as the SG drops further. Nice hops. Still got a lovely thick foam on.

Fermentor samples often lovely, just because their an early stolen taster of underage beer!

This applies to Beer only. [-X

After 4 weeks maturing this is the last bottle (keg got drunk ages ago), except for 6 going to Derby competition.

It's really easy to drink and very tasty. I undercooked the carbonation though so will add more primings next time.

This 50/50 business tastes lovely as an introduction to 'real' bitter. May try one soon with all lager malt to see how it is different from this. I think perhaps less body still? Choosing as clean a yeast as poss might help, Nottingham I think.
