Celebrating the birthday today :D and have the week off so i though I would knock this one out


Birthday brown ale

O.G 1.055-1.057

20liters

Golden Promise 1.58 kg (27%)
Mild malt 3.0 kg (58%)
Brown malt 272g (5%)
Crystal 55l 200g (3.5%)
Crystal Dark 200g (3.5%)
Chocolate malt 140g (2.5%)

Hops (38 IBU’s)

EKG 48g 60 min
EKG 20g 15 min
Fuggles 20g 15 min
EKG 34g 3min
Fuggles 24g 3min

Yeast 1.6 liter starter of WLP002 (1 liter of slurry added)

Happy Birthday to the both of you (Ob and DB).

Ob is there a reason for the mild malt/golden promise mix or just using up some grain? Based on Wheeler Hook Norton seems to use a mix of Pale and Mild malt presumably to get a bit more nutty/biscuity flavor.

Look forward to the tasting notes.
