Tonight myself & Ian will be attempting our second AG "Blencathra Bitter" (recipe below). We are kicking off ~4:30PM, and as we are now experts

I hope we will be a bit faster than last time. However I do have a slight suspicion with the more relaxed approach experience brings, that extra "lubrication" may play a part this time and we may still run into the wee hours...
As Ian is tonights chief brewer, I better do the notes & camera thing (just remembered camera battery is flat

hope Ians is all set to go)
Will update the thread as we kick off
BLENCATHRA BITTER Hesket Newmarket brewery
25 litre batch OG 1035 ABV 3.1%

CRYSTAL MALT 509 gms
CHOCOLATE MALT 116 gms
HOPS boil time 90 minutes
FUGGLES 28 gms
GOLDINGS 30 gms No EBU given I have calculated for 28 EBU
Add 10 gms HALLERTAU last 15 minutes.

I wonder if this will turn into a looooong mash, hmm?
They'll be able to slip out during the boil if you get it nice and steady, but I'd aim for a long mash, quickish boil then get back the pub while it chills

Moi, (nous) do something like that - were back already after a rather mediocre pint of London Pride. We've already managed to slip in a half of Colne Valley, and will prosheed to shample all our pweviosh bwews (next up Daabs ESB, then Brupaks IPA, then......
I mean theres still 45 minutes before we sparge!

We have both agreed that the Brupacks brewers choice IPA is very fine beer indeed. The old ale is OK but a little sweet, and my ESB (with 3x sugar it should have had - is definately for shandy). Luckily next up is the Epping Forest Dark (AG#1).... Sparge proceeding well but slowly colected 7.ltrs so far...

Boil is well underway - and as if by magic - curry has arrived. So after 2.5ltrs of epping forest dark - it now seems only proper to crack open the 1ltr bottle of san-miguel. Perfect timing - by the time the chicken dansak, king prawn pasanda & lamb wotsamiacallit is in the bag, we should be ready to chill and pitching (and perhaps more beer?)
