My first AG in 20 years

The day finally arrived. I haven't done an AG brew for about twenty years and then it was very improvised using all Dave Lines recipes which did work out very well. I used to mash on the old Rayburn in the stew pot and boil in the old Burco washing copper. This time I thought it could be done much better thanks mainly to this forum and the odd book. I must acknowledge everyone who I have copied off, you will know who you are from the photographs. Many thanks, the equipment lead to a smooth brew day.
I made Paul at Barley Bottom's, Grogans Morning Glory. I was planning to fly sparge but lack of sparge arms and batch sparging looking easy I went for that option. Hadn't planned on that when I bought the thermo box which is 24l but it just fitted!

Volumes all worked pretty well as per DaaB's calculator.

I collected 28l from the mashing, only ended up with 17l at the end of the boil. I think I can turn the gas down a bit next time.

By the time I had added water making up to 22l, gravity was down to 1044, about where it was supposed to be.
It's all now in the bucket with some S-04 waiting for something to happen!

Many thanks once again for all the ideas and advice. :D :D :D

Further to yesterdays brew, which is now foaming nicely. 8)

One query is the Ph which I took just for the record as it were. This was around 5.5 during mashing which might be too high.

What effect is this likely to have on the brew?
What if anything should I have done about it? :)

It's as near as dammit to 5.3 so I wouldn't be too concerned, not on your first brew
