Woke up this morning not really knowing what to do with myself so thought I'd brew something up :)

I've not really based this on anything, kind of just bodged together some ingredients I had...

Recipe Specifications
--------------------------
Batch Size: 23.00 L
Boil Size: 26.62 L
Estimated OG: 1.045 SG
Estimated Color: 12.3 EBC
Estimated IBU: 30.8 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: 70.00 %
Boil Time: 60 Minutes

4.40 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (5.9 EBC)
0.20 kg Cara-Pils/Dextrine (3.9 EBC)
0.20 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (120.0 EBC)
25.00 gm Target [10.20 %] (60 min)
25.00 gm Challenger [7.00 %] (10 min)
25.00 gm Challenger [7.00 %] (0 min)

I was aiming for something reasonably light in colour, a bit hoppy and 4.5%ish. Mashed at 67% for two hours - only because I forgot to the turn the HLT back on in time for my planned 90min mash . I added some dextrin to the recipe to up the body a bit, my last ale was a bit thin.

Batch sparged and now it's boiling outside - who knows what's gone into the boil, I saw a few insects diving in  - Can't blame them really ;-)

I'm just about the drop the IC in, then the late hops & whirfloc tablet.

Pics to follow once I'm done :)

if it's an award winner you'll have to find even more insects to put into subsequent brews :)

IC is on, yeast is rehydrating - it's been a rather relaxing brew day so far. No major incidents apart from dropping my new £4 digital thermometer into the HLT

Almost bang on, was aiming for 67.

Wrapped up nice 'n warm for two hours

Two hours later, dropped 0.2 degrees, well happy with that

Heating up for the boil - you can see how the HLT affected the thermometer - it's just about readable still

Racking off in to the FV - wort wasn't very clear at all, lots of trub in it :(

Done!

T'was a good day, shame about so much trub in the FV but it'll settle out once fermentation has finished I guess.[/img]

I'm sure it'll be a good'n RtD. As for the trub...I think I am "mister trub"..all my wort seems to have lots of trub in it..but after 10 days in the FV they have all, so far come out crystal clear and also come out of the keg crystal clear...no finings..even the light ales...I don't worry about it anymore.

Cheers for the comments :)

Couple of typos in my pictures post but I think you all understood what I was trying to say.

I'll follow up once it's drinkable - a couple of days or so ;)

He enjoyed some of the spent malt but wasn't very interested in the spent hops - in fact he was more interested in trying to nibble through the boiler wire than helping out  ;)

You just can't get the staff these days.

Love the 'Random sparge device', looks more effective than tin foil. If you don't mind I'll be nickin' your idea
