I'm hoping to brew this up later if I can get out of work early enough
The Wiggly One (Light summer ale for SWMBO):
OG 1040 (ish)
IBU 22, EBC 9
25 Litres
5kg MO Pale
25g Challenger (60mins)
10g Fuggles (60mins)
28g Challenger (0mins)
S-04 or us-05 haven't decided yet
Considering a 90 boil & mash rathe than 60 as well, any benefits?

Go with the US-05 it will let the hops shine in this golden ale.

This is in the the tun now for 90mins
Have changed the recipe slightly: 21L instead of 25L (corny centric)
And As a starter gone:
3.75kg M.O. Pale
0.25kg Wheat Malt

I'm with Del, go with the us-05. I've done 90 min mash and boils and i've noticed no difference in the finished product but hey maybe it's just me

I got 29L @ 1035 pre boil, beersmith reckoned 1033 so looks like my efficiency is going up

.
90mins toil and trouble now - I'm cleaning as I go along so shouldn't be such a late one this time (I hope).

Hmmmmm
got my 21L @ 1040 but the wort got stuck in the copper?????
The hop strainer got blocked, maybe I drained too quickly? I used a sanitised spoon gently to move the steep hops and my trusty sieve between the tap and the FV to glean the final 3 litres
Hope it's going to be ok, a lot of trub has settled in the FV already, about 4-5mm.
Pitched the US-05 anyhew and finger crossed.

Cheers Mick,
Yeah, enjoyed it, just got finished clean and put away the gazeebo I've been banished to.
It holds a steady 20c in the good old cupboard under the stairs so the FV is in there keeping the dog food company
Did I do the right thing regards shifting the steep hops a bit to get the last of my wort? or did I commit a HB no no

?
Been an absolutely hectic weekend with having to work and get things ready for the wedding next week, but hey - I get to go bed with the smell of hops and malt in my nostrils, yum
