brewday 5/7 kit

Post by prolix » Sat Jul 05, 2008 5:04 pm

I needed to brew today drunk all my beer so I went out and could not get to the garage

Image

When I finally moved the rubble I found brewing would be difficult

Image

To the the alternative brewery... bit of a problem there too

Image

So I went to Wilkos God Bless them and got some wherry

Image

Boil my puppies (no real puppies were boiled in the making of this beer)

All done 45 minutes

Ok I know the yeast is in the cup and not the fermenter!

It was so fast I forgot to have a brew or four in the middle.

Ingrediance
wherry kit
treated water
002 yeast
20g styrians at the end of boil in bag
time

Good man! The burglars took everything, including the kitchen sink, and you put a brew on. Excelent! :D

I did a wherry today as well but steeped around 40g of Styrians in the cans with boiling water for about 45 minutes to see what happens (looking for the flavour and smell).

This is the second time I've done wherry and both times the starting gravity has been 1035 so about 3.6% someway off the claimed 4.5% although I ended up with about 25 litres rather than 23 so I guess that helps explain things.

Wilkos stiffed me for the Yeast so I used the packet from a John Bull IPA kit (with which I used 04)I would have used Safale 04 but I only had the one and that went into my secound kit today a Brewer Choice Extra Special Bitter unusually for me I didn't abuse the kit and stuck to the instructions, have to say It tastes that good that if it weren't for the fact that it is yet to contain any alcohol I could have happily necked it tonight

But it should be 23litre not 20, so its still a bit short
