Hoping to brew on Monday

If I manage an early start on Monday I'll be brewing using the following:

8Kgs Maris Otter
1Kg of Caramalt
1Kg of Munich
Mashed at 66C

200gms Bobek
Boiled for 90 minutes

4 pks Nottingham divided between 45 litres in two 22.5 litre brew bins.

The IRS I did a month ago fermented down to 1.010 from 1.070 in four days.

This will be around 1.049 at 74% efficiency or 1.056 at 85%

Yes they are from Barley Bottom!

I used 100gms at flameout on the IRS.

I'll have a better idea of their character in this new brew.

I'm simply going to boil 100 gms for 90mins and FWH the other 100gms

and see what they taste like in something a little less in Your face than the IRS.

Have fun BZ.

I need to get one on on Sunday - got a potentially empty corny that needs filling

I'm probably going to do Paul's BB Northdown Wonder recipe again (as I can't get any rice hulls to let me do a Wit) - I have the Northdowns and Bobek sitting in the fridge and I'm currently polishing off the last of the current corny - and it's lovely. Bitey and clean, but I like that - almost American IPA style and very refreshing.

5.5kg Maris Otter
150g Crystal malt
60g Northdown 90 min boil
50g Styrian Golding (sub. Bobek) 1 min boil
1 Protafloc tablet
12g Safale S-04 yeast

I've only just started this AG brewing lark, and have never had the Styrian Goldings to compare with the Bobek, but the beer I'm drinking now has Northdowns for bittering and the Bobek for flavour and aroma. It's a nice beer.

Nice one Vossy!

I might even throw in a jar of spanish honey I've got that was never used for it's intended purpose.

Oh, well [censored] it then. I'm going to throw in a badger carcass I picked up off the road. And a rusty swing set. Maybe an old Triumph Bonneville head gasket too.

Steady on! The triumph bits would cause a leakage in the barrel that could not be cured and the Badger will give You TB!

Well I started at 10am and finished at 8pm including cleaning up and packing everything away.

Got 75% brewhouse efficiency.

Collected 40L at OG 1.044 and 33 IBU's

Only used 6Kg of Pale Malt instead of the 8Kg as planned in order to leave 6Kg for the next brewday.

Here's a few pics

Caramalt on the left and Munich Malt on the right and pale malt underneath

Two FV's each holding 20L wort and Nottingham yeast just added and roused

Now for a nice cuppa and a ciggy :D
