Mild Summer, a panic brew

All things being equal I will get my first brew on for ..... 4 months.
The grist is one I have used before, and I am partial to and the proportions are very loosely based on DL's Amazing mild.
Previously I have used Nottingham on my milds(what was at hand) this will be my first with S04.

I will be looking for 20L @1.040 from a 60min boil

2.3kg pale malt
60grms roast barley
60grms chocolate
120grms crystal
40grms Amber
50grms TW

360grms Demerara sugar

18grms Challenger FWH
15grms Goldings @ 80C

As yet I have not done a mild with the same hop schedule twice, but I find FWH and late additions seem to work well.

Well I eventualy got this done, no thanks to clients wanting attention, my 5L jug going MIA, a new 5L jug(which I poped out to get) with a leak. then I find that my test jar for my hydro was also MIA.

Anyhow, I got 21L at 1,038. So all in all a good day in the end 8)

I would recommend this grist to anyone wanting a modern dark mild, as it tastes good after a few months as a brown ale. And makes a very fine quaffer, on draught after 10-15 days :wink:
