Well I was going to do Director's but there was a tin of golden syrup in the cupboard so I had to go with this instead.

4350g MO Pale malt
540g Crystal malt

2 hour mash

540g golden syrup
65g challenger hops
15g Goldings

90 minutes or so

1 tsp. Irish moss last 15 mins

A few pics

Grains with first batch of sparge water. This thermos box barely dropped a degree in 2 hours

Image

Nice clear runnings

Image

First batch going in the boiler - note the poor hop strainer, more to follow on that.

Image

Golden syrup in the pot

Image

Hot break...

Image

Spent grains

Image

Hops in

Image

IC in, boil nearly over

Image

Heat off, leccy bill...

Image

Hop strainer totally failed, so an impromptu sanitising of this strainer was in order. Hops in bags next time methinks.

Image

SG 1050, temp was about 25°C when taken, pretty much on the nail :D

Image

What went wrong? I knocked the tap on the HLT making the nut slip a thread at 80°C, nice leak. promptly emptied into the empty boiler & repaired, about 1l over the garage floor.

1 dect phone (used for hose control with missus at the tap) knocked into a bucket of hot water, swiftly removed & drained - no ill effects.

Otherwise all looking good. This AG is hard work mind

Well done youreds91 nice brew and cracking pictures. It's a good recipe but I'll wager it'll leave you with a dreadful hangover if you have too much of it

Thanks for the comments gents.
I transferred the London Pride to the secondary yesterday & dry hopped, just had a sneaky taste & it's spot on :D
It can only get better when conditioned.

CD.

Looks like a good brew day. I love the colour of golden syrup. Let me know how this brew comes out, i think i can probably do a better job of old spec than its actual manufacturer at the moment, and have a bead on some Challenger...
