Off work this week so...mash on!
3.9kg MO
180g Amber
200g Caramalt
150g Torrefied Wheat
Mashing at 65C as I type.
EDIT Hop schedule:
75min:
25g Fuggles 4.5%
25g Bramling Cross 5.5%
15min:
25g Bramling Cross
Time for a cupper and mowing the lawn I reckon....
Wrap up warm time for the mash...
Quick check on the stirplate - Hopback yeast for the next brew a week or two from now... lots of activity and airlock bubbling, but will step this up again to a larger 2 litre batch in a 2-3 days time.

OK - 5 gallons at 1039 in the FV. Going to ferment at about 21-22C on this one under the control of the ATC800.
Now for dinner and a Leffe to celebrate!

Weekday brewing is great ... as a shift worker i love it ...
Looks like a top brew .. not used Bramling Cross before but i do like Fuggles usually on their own but how do you find they mix ?

One of the best Tuesdays I've had in a long while
As for the Fuggles and Bramling Cross - I don't know how this will turn out so a little experiment of sorts. But, I've seen a few commercial brews here and there using those two, though many of them are darker, stronger beers. A load more use Goldings as well as those two.
This one should be quite light coloured and about 3.8 ish at a guess so it'll be interesting what goes on...

Couple of more pics - was a bit rushed yesterday (redecorating as well, so needed to also be filling, sanding, changng sockets, etc...

)
Just about coming to the boil:
Tucked up in the beer fridge
Looks healthy this morning - fairly clean yeast head too.

Down to 1012 in 3 days flat and looks like it's done and it's looking quite clear already.
Quality control sample seems to indicate it's a good one - nice fruity flavours

Uh-huh.

(local Sainsbury's have it pretty much all the time now).
More experimentation in growing up Fullers yeast again for use (after I use up the Hopback stuff I have on the go) - the last go with the 1845 yeast wasn't perfect - hopefully better luck next time.

Love the low-tech stir-plate, it's a bit like mine
