first fixture of the 2008-2009 season, another go at a durden park recipe

for 21L at 65% efficiency, OG 1060

5100g Maris Otter Pale Malt
1100g Brown Malt
350g Chocolate (recipe says black, but i didn't have any)
130g Fuggles at start of boil (4.2% IBU, i make it 60-ish IBUs)

WLP002 yeast

mashed for 2 hours, batch sparged, boiled for 75 mins.

i got 19L, i underestimated the losses to all those hops. maybe i'll try hop-sparging next time.

the wort tasted very luscious, having just read si's comments below on his version i'm really looking forward to this one - only 4 months to wait!

Looks good, should be interesting with the change to chocolate malt, all my porters so far had the greater percentage of of chocolate malt an turned out very nice

I am doing this recipe in two weeks time with an American friend
