Ben has just had a pint of my Loughton Pride, and now, while we wait for the mash to complete, we are off over the road to the pub to compare it with the real thing...

Ish going vewy well, we have sampled sevwal of our pwevious bwews and the boil is just about to break...

i hope this turns out good for you guys but from the looks of things Ben may have had enough beer for now seeing as your messing with very hot stuff :=P

I like the idea of checking your brew with a as you said real beer tbh I think the pub beer is now a little inferier to what is brewed at home given the time and effort put into it....

yesh - I agree. Having had both cask pride & canned, I prefferred Ian's efforts (though I enjoyed all verily). The fullers does has a fuller after taste/moth feel, but Ians was definately shuperior...

Tasting comparisons of the fullers was not helped by a litre of "bens hop madness" which at 6% and ~200g hops didnt leave ones palate fully willing for the finer points of more subtle brews....

By the looks of things I recon you two have had an excellent night brewing and beer tasting ....... may be not so much brewing as more beer tasting \:D/ But which ever way it has gone you had a good evening and their will be more beer at the end of they day wich is no bad thing :lol:

Yup, pics will be posted tomorrow.
Yeast pitched about 10 mins ago - looks like it might be a bit warm - 26c, we ended up with about 24l at 1.053.
-and we stuck 25g or so of the Hallertauer in at flame out to make it interesting.

Well a fine nights brewing, plenty of homebrew, a bit of the commercial, curry, good company, and happy wife & children - in fact a perfect nights brewing. (Did I mention a couple of glasses of red as well). Heads a little on the muzzy side this morning, but I think I stopped just south of a propper hangover. As I was only assistant brewer I was able to take an early lead in the sampling stakes.

Fermenting away nicely - krausen pushing the lid of the FV by 9:00 this morning. Thanks for the help and company!
