Brewing this so kindly pointed out by Adm as it is an easy brew

Fermentables
UK Pale Ale Malt 4.500 kg
UK Medium Crystal 0.360 kg

Hops
Variety Alpha Amount IBU When
UK Golding 5.5 % 35 g 20.5 90 Min
UK Fuggle 4.5 % 35 g 16.7 90 Min From End
UK Golding 5.5 % 10 g 2.7 15 Min From End

Day started a little later than planned 09:00 rather than 08:00 but its going well so far. Their wont be many pics as its my first brew i am managing to take some will bung them up later after the day is finished.
Mash started at 10:00 almost time to start the sparge.
Sparge done and onto the boil.
90 min Hops thrown in by SWMBO :) must say my wife is really getting into this brewing lark :)
15 min hops thrown in waited 5 min then bunged in chiller and some profolac.
Wort chilled to 26 deg and left for 30 min before draining to FV had a nice clear wort.
Pitched yeast after a good 10 min thrashing the wort to get some air into it.
Will update with pics when I get back from visiting the mother in law.

Here is hoping it turnes out as planned [-o<

Oh forgot to add I guestemated the sparge worked on a 3 litre water to 1 kg of grain for the mash then sparged until I hit 1008 during the sparge. This is something im definatley going to have to work out properly as I ended up having to top up with water and then I only came out with 20 litres for the brew.

"Get a Move On!"

What there is two of you doing this brew and you can't take pictures

Why haven't you finished yet? . . . you started at 09:00 . . . I've upgraded a SQL Server Cluster (from 2000 to 2005) since then :=P

Good luck with your first AG mate its not as scary as first thought to be honest I just bunged a half a campden tab in to get rid of the chlorine and totally forgot to check the Ph #-o not that im to worried though as the wort tasted great ...

I'm going to do the campden tablet thing but I'm not going to worry about the ph yet. that will be for a later brew when I have the experience to know the difference. reassuring to know its not as daunting as it seems though

Nice work that man!

Lovely clear wort - you should have a nice pint there quite soon.

Enjoy!

It is currently fermenting like a steam train got a good head on it as well about 4 inches.

Starting gravity was about 1050 a little higher than I wanted I also ended up with 20 litres of wort not quite as much as I wanted I really should have toped up with 2 litres of water before bunging the yeast in but seeing as im going to bung it in a corney that only holds 18 litres I figure it is enough.

Thanks for all the praise but some must go to an excellent tutor Aleman who showed me how it is done. Also my wife who is getting the brewing bug and threatening to bung on my last kit even though I have no barrels of kegs left to bung it into I want to hold onto for emergency brewing when im getting low on beer and it's just to miserable to brew out side.

Last update for this one, It spent 2 days at 1012 which is fine with me so in the cornie it went I was supprised at how clear it was until I watched a big lump of yeast go through the tube to the cornie and get it self all stired up with the transfer so I now have a slightly cloudy TEA which im sure will clear in a few days. I am very impressed with this and will be doing it again but with a few more hops in the next one as this seems a little on the low side in regards to hops aroma and flavour.
All round I had a good brew day SWMBO is asking when were doing the next ! and A good beer at the end of it so no complaints at all. Unfortunatley next brew is going to be done in the garage as the kitchen is now out of bounds for brewing the mother in law does not want the kitchen taken over all day just to satisfy my beer making .... who would have figured eh ! grrrrrrr some days she does so agrivate me but shes not well so wife and myself decided it would be better to move in with her it also means I have spare cash at times for things like ohh I dont know grain / brewing equipment / more computer stuff
