I had a pint of this in the Fox and Anchor a few months ago. Very tasty it was too. Hope all goes well. Recipe looks simple enough so I might try this for my maiden ag brew in a couple of weeks.

Its all i drank at the Lancaster beer fest. was pissed on 4th staggering on 6th.
SWO's regretted me drinking it as i kept calling it "A pint of my lass". She threatened to glass me by the end of the night.

This is what got me into Homebrew. Nearly bought a 20L polypin but i didnt want to pay £64.00 so i decided to make my own beer instead. 7 months of brewing & now im actually making it. Only costing 28p a pint instead of there £1.77 a pint (polypin price). Saving £60. Where's the smug smiley?

Just working out gravities
1st mash liquid reading was 1071 +10 = 1.081
Sparge reading is 1026 + 6 = 1.032

Combining the 2 i can defo say its going to be higher than 1.055. Big hairy bollox, that means im going to have to water it down again dropping my hop balance thingy. So i think im getting a fair bit more than 75% efficiency. If i make this again i think i'll knock off 1.5kg MO.

Had my first pint of "Old Growler" yesterday and decided to look for a recipe thread, found yours and just wanted to resurect this thread although 9 months old to get your feedback on the recipe and to see if you enjoyed the brew and thought you managed to get the sweet buttery and chocolate taste I identified when I drank my first pint?

Give us an update, if you can remember that far back on your impressions of the brew :?:

Cheers

Im very interested too for my first AG.

I had a pint in Wetherspoons once, it was fantastic. One of those pints like Deuchars IPA that you never forget (or JHB for that matter too)...

Your not wrong. I need another holiday to get over it. Back to reality is shi te!!!

I found it to be a little over malty. So if/when i make it again i'd use less malt but add some glucose in its place. Also i'd dry hop it in secondary for a week as it wasnt hoppy enough for me either. But back then i was shi te at brewing. My sparge consisted in me just tipping the sparge water straight into the mashtun  Oh how we learn.
