First AG- Done!
Posted: Sun Nov 02, 2008 1:23 pm
Early start this morning for my first AG, went for 6 gallons of Styrian stunner and batch sparged.
Boiler switched on at 5.45 am
Pitched yeast at 11.30am
Would have been quicker but it took my boiler 45 mins to get the water up to strike temp
. Next time I'll set a time switch and have the 45 mins in bed!
All went very smoothly
much easier than I thought- didn't miss measuring out extract one bit
Overshot the OG (aiming for 1040 but got 28 litres at 1045) the grain bill was 5.5kg of pale malt.
It all fitted in my mash tun with plenty of room to spare- despite my initial concern
(see previous post viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17328 )
Thanks for the help!, Cant wait to try the results
