Brewday - 4/1/09 - Five Brewer APA

Post by Garth » Fri Jan 02, 2009 5:52 pm

Got this planned for the brewday on Sunday where hopefully there'll be a few forumees lending a hand

I fancied doing this as I've read these three hops go well together, should be really citrusy, the malt is a combination which I've used on numerous occasions as it works quite well.

Image

it will also be dry hopped with roughly 20g each of Amarillo, Cascade and Simcoe .

any comments or thoughts on the recipe.......I am open to changes or suggestions

I like the look of that, my hbs has just got a new batch of simco which I was going to put with centennial/amarillo for a pale ale, I think I will pay close attention to see how yours turns out.
Cheers
Paul

there is a bit, it looks a lot as there's a lot of additions and it's for a 50 litre batch, and we don't want to get bored during the boil do we Jim?,

Looks good Garth. :) Wish I was more local otherwise I'd join you for a taste of an experienced brewer's brewday! :)

I'm a bit snowed in with university work this weekend unfortunately so I can't really spare the time to come up (nor to do a brewday :( but my hop strainer isn't sorted yet anyway), but I may well do that if you have another communal brewday in the future! :)

no, we are travelling by Tardis to next month, doing the brew then bringing it back aged ready to drink

I would have thought that was obvious........ :D

no really, cheers for pointing that, I don't know why I wrote that, been making a lot of mistakes recently, I blame the beer.....

Have a good one chaps, I did an APA a couple of months back with Simcoe, Cascade & Centennial & I reckon it was about my best yet, shame a 'tube failure' caused it to be sparayed all over the garage ceiling while I was away at Christmas :(

I'm under strict orders to brew it again soon though :D
