Going to do another clotworthy dobbin since the last one went down so well, will be using a tweaked version of jymbos recipe.

Grain Bill

Marris Otter: 4500g
Crystal Malt: 450g
Chocolate Malt: 80g
Black Malt: 25g
Wheat Malt: 150g

Hop Schedule

60mins: Challenger (7.1%): 25g
15mins: Challenger (7.1%): 15g
15mins: Cascade (5.4%): 15g
8mins: Cascade (5.4%): 10g
1mins: Cascade (5.4%): 30g

Will be trying this with S04.

You're planning a long way ahead aren't you!

Looks interesting, I like the blend of flavours from challenger and cascade together. :)

Good luck, delboy,

We're bound to get this one right sooner or later. Good thing is it always tastes good even if it's not exactly the same as the original. S-04 is definitely a better call than the S-05 I used the last time. I'm going to give the Fullers yeast a go the next time. I'll be interested to hear how this turns out for you. Drank a bucketload of these over Christmas. Tescos were selling them for 1.29 a bottle :D

Was a little shy of the 1048 mark (only got 1046) but i got a tad more than 5 gallons (must be the one hour boil).

Went with 30g of cascade at 1 min rather than the 50g i had originally planned as i'll probably drop hop it as well.

Its down to 1016 and since its S04 i don't think it'll probably drop much more, the hydrometer sample tasted great, much closer to the real thing than my previous attempt sans cascade.

Since im v. low on beer at the moment im going to cornie and bottle this probably tomorrow night, with any luck i'll be supping some from the beer engine come saturday night, six days now thats not bad :D

Good job, Del. The last time I made this I remember tasting it out of the hydro tube at 1014 and thinking it was pretty close, but by the time it dropped to 1010 it didn't taste as good. I'm going to try with something that doesn't attenuate too much next time. Might add a few extra IBUs too as it'll be sweeter.
