Wherry Worried

Right after pouring my last batch down the drain due to infection I have:
  • Dismantled and washed the FV
Replaced the tap with the original plastic one
    washed the tap
soaked the lot in Youngs cleaner and sterilser (metabisuplate?) for 12 hours
    rinsed
Sterilised again with with Videne solution
Opened a beer (Spitfire from my local shop, this is really hoppy compared to the last bottles I had, REALLY hoppy, nice)
    Prayed to the beer gods
    made up a wherry kit
    dumped S04 in it
    Prayed again
put it in my new fermentation chamber (box with tube heater)
Fingers crossed all [-o<

Next AG will be when the remainder of my new brewery arrives.

Good stuff.

I hope you get back to the AG soon though - and that you've managed to kill off any lurking beasties....

Me too,

Time has been a killer for me.

I have had crap 6 weeks or so, my car chewed its rear diff, central heating went bang, dog got ill etc.

I hoping my luck will change with the new year.

Thanks mate,

Are you saying wash the FV out straight after use with bleach, then a bit of metabisulphate, drain and snap the lid on.

Sometimes my FV goes 3-4 weeks with out being used see.

if so I'll do this next time. Normally I wash out with soda crystals or oxyclean after use then dry and store it lid off
