Just got this one finishing mashing - a fairly big beer...:

7kg Maris Otter
100g Torrefied Wheat
140g Black Malt

Fitting that lot into a 24l mashtun is fun! Just about doable though...

Also in the boil:
320g Light Brown sugar
180g Homemade Amber Candi sugar

Hops planned:

90min:
32g Target (was 9% but 2006 so assume a fair bit lower)
50g Fuggles (4%), 20g Fuggles (4.4%)

15min:
50g Fuggles(4%)

Yeast 2xS04

Thanks guys. Hopefully may be done by midnight, bar the clear up which I'll leave 'til tomorrow. Sparge taking ages though...

Not so bad......I'll still have beer. And it will be good.

I should learn my lesson though.....trying to use 4 new pieces of equipment all at the same time is probably asking for it a bit

Not all lost then!

I have just shy of 30 litres at 1059 - about to add the hops once it comes to the boil. Changing the sugar to 320g light brown (all I have!) and gonna use 180g of homemade amber candi sugar.

danny - hope your brew is going well!

Some piccies:

One full mash tun!

Boil going - a bit darker than I was maybe expecting, but that's the black malt for you...

Flavour hops for the 15min addition - both are 25g of fuggle:

Off to start sanitising - plus realised I've left the Irish Moss in the garage...

Done and dusted - about 20.5l at OG of 1086 which is pretty much bang on what I was aiming for.

Nice one ... i knocked it on the head at midnight and left the pitching til this morning ... 23l at 1047 which was spot on so well pleased with that ... your's is going to be a thumper then at around 8% ... just in time for the cold snap too !

Yup - I reckon about 8.3% depending on how well the yeast does - though judging by it's current appearence, it's doing quite nicely...
