Morning all,
just pre-heating the mash tun for a clone of the Black Stuff
23 L at 1.047
3.5 kg MO
1kg Flaked barley
0.5kg Roasted barley
35g N. Brewer @ 10.2% AA for 90 min = 42 EBU
Came back into the kitchen to find someone tucking into the grain bill - hence the name

Needless to say the little bugger is now outside in the cold

The little sods will eat anything, a couple of weeks back I left the kitchen for two minutes, came back to find the greedier of our two on the hob tucking into red hot bolognese, mince in bin, start again, I've seen where they can lick themselves......
Nice markings on it's coat there mind, might learn it's lesson in 2C weather eh?
Have a good one with the stout, should turn out well, looks like the standard 7:2:1 Guinness job.

Had an incredibly smooth brewday yesterday in the end - the mash lasted an extra 2 1/2 hours as I had to collect my motorbike after a little 'off' recently and sort out the siezed brakes.
First treacley runnings looked and tasted superb:
The Northern brewer hops smelled fantastic, so I'm looking forward to using the rest of the pack soon.
Ended up with 1.046 OG, about what I was after, and pitched a sachet of S04. All bubbling away nicely today. This is the first time I've tried a "clone brew", so I'll be interested to see how it turns out.

The brother of someone who used to work for my Father adopted a dog from the local rescue centre just for the Christmas period one year. He was having a big, fat juicy steak on Christmas Day - until he came down in the morning and discovered that the dog had eaten it. Needless to say he didn't take them up on their offer to keep the dog.
