Got home at a reasonable time today and thought why not! Called "Grand Slam" as it's international rugby season, and this will hopefully be ready for the deciding 6 Nations weekend....just!

Looking for a nice caramel taste with a good hop balance. First hops will be going in shortly, but any thoughts on the late hops welcome. The Candi Sugar is homemade as per the Franklin brew instructions. It's very tasty, so i'll be pleased if i get some of that through in the brew.

http://www.franklinbrew.org/brewinfo/candi_sugar.html for anyone who wants to make some sugar....sweeeeet!
It taste better than the stuff you buy and is a lot cheaper to make.

Just steeping the last hop addition now, chiller is about to go on. My neighbour has just fitted a security light to the back of his house, made finding the outside tap a bit easier than normal!

Finished at midnight in the end and left the cleaning up for the following morning which was fun after a mini boil over. Caramel wort and hops not unlike tar and feathers!

Ended up with 25 litres at 1049° so quite happy. The yeast was already forming a head by 7am the following morning so i put her in the safe hands of the ATC800.

Hoped to do another brew this week, but it's looking unlikely now.
