Recycling porter

I've been meaning to do this for a while. I have some frozen Cascades that have been used as aroma hops once before in hoppy beers. In the 18th and 19th centuries commercial brewers would routinely re-use hops in a porter the next day after brewing a hoppy beer, so that's what I'm doing. As I don't know how much alpha acid is left in them there's not too much point aiming for an exact recipe.

Brew length about 8-10 litres

1600g Belgian pale malt
500g lager malt
150g chocolate malt
90g toasted porridge oats

Now mashing ... time for a cup of tea.

Does anyone else find it hard to resist eating the mash?

I bottled this tonight – tastes pretty good but it's turned out more of a dark mild. This is not a problem as I love dark mild. You can really taste the chocolate malt.
