Am very close to deciding to do a brew this evening as finish at 4 so can have the HLT on by 4.45.

Only thing at the moment is to decide what to brew so i thought I would throw the decision open to you lot.

I want to do a fairly quick turnaround brew so thinking in the 1.040 region and also want to do 1 from GW's new book.

I have the following hops in stock as I think that will be the limiting factor:
Fuggles
Northdown
Target
Cascade
Goldings

As for grains other than Pale I have:
Crystal
Wheat
Amber
Chocolate
Black
Roast Barley
Flaked Barley
Terrified Wheat
Carafa III

This brew will be done using Nottingham yeast with the intention of bottling on Tuesday 14th.

Id like to follow the recipe exactly as printed and will probaly update this as I go along this evening.

So what do you recommend ??

Northdown Wonder and Townes IPA are both lovely and you have the making for both.

all the recipies i was going to suggest have got challenger in them.

what about the 6X?

persoally i'd up the EBU slightly

Sorry about that it seemed every ale that i like and thought was in the book had challenger hops in

I like Porters so that one is on the To-Do List at some point

Am about to leave work now so will be looking through the book when I get home to decide (and to check ive listed the correct hops .....)

Actually have Challenger hops instead of cascade so am now looking through the book to decide which to make

Right well you have a fair few options then i will have look through the book as well and make one or two suggestions any particular style in mind?

Personally it would have to be either old thumper or riggwelter but then again they are both above 5% so i do not know whether that is an concern? If so there is always the the ringwood best bitter. But this is really personal tastes .

Mash is on at the moment while I have my tea

All seemed to go well with this brew - no taps left open or hop strainers on the side.

Ended up with 25 litres in the FV at 1.046 (83.5% eff) so slightly overshot on both.

Overall im pleased - just waiting now for the yeasties to do their thang !!!
