I've been doing extract for a while. Then decided to take the plunge with AG.
I've now got my first AG brew fermenting, just added the yeast, so hopefully this
time tomorrow it will be fermenting nicely.
I split the brew over yesterday evening and this morning.
A couple of issues with mashing, could not keep temp at 67 degs, floated about a bit
up to 70 down to 63 but not for too long.
Then batch sparged with Daabs false bottom which worked like a dream.
Then as I Was keeping the mash liquor over night raised the temp to 80.
Boiled and added the hops this morning, all seems to be going ok.
Also to my surprise the og was exactly what beerengine calculated!
Only other issue was quantity, ended up being 16L rather than 18L. I think this may be due
to not running the mash quite so dry and various other losses.
Many thanks to everyone for all the help, the smells coming from the boil and now the FV are
really nice, smell alone is far superior to all the extracts I've done! Can't wait to drink it!
