Well it was time on Sunday to put the dissapointment behind me of the infection and try the Summer Lighning again,
All the same as last time, recipe below, and again I managed to cook a roast chicken and mow the front and back lawns in a 5 hour brewday... from water on to clean up!! No pics this time, as camera was out with SWMBO elsewhere...
Recipe was from GW's book:
Summer Lightening Clone
(Sunny (Gavaskar) Lightening)
19 litre batch
OG 1049
ABV 5.%
8units of colour
38BU
MARIS OTTER PALE MALT 4120
HOPS boil time 90 minutes
CHALLENGER 38g
Add 13ms Goldings last 15 minutes
Post boil hops – 8g Goldings
Estimated final gravity 1011
Again there was a slight problem with the run off to the boiler, as the hop stopper couldn't cope with the amount of hops. I am going to have to drill more holes in it to avoid this problem in the future.
Its now sat in the FV with the SO4 yeast starting to do it's stuff... hope this one makes it!!!!
It looks like a great beer and I really hope it gets into bottles this time as I have designed an ace label for it (soon to appear on the labels thread)
