Hello,

I brewed this last Friday:

Ingredients
23L @ 75% efficiency, 120min mash @67°C, 90min boil
Amount Item Type % or IBU
3.65 kg Maris Otter (5.9 EBC) Grain 95.00 %
0.19 kg Caramalt (26.0 EBC) Grain 5.00 %
33.00 gm Cascade [6.60 %] (90 min) Hops 24.3 IBU
40.00 gm Cascade [6.60 %] (1 min) Hops 1.2 IBU
10.00 gm Cascade [6.60 %] (0 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops -
1 Pkgs English Ale (White Labs #WLP002) Yeast-Ale

Beer Profile
Measured Original Gravity: 1.039 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.010 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 3.79 %
Bitterness: 25.5 IBU
Est Color: 8.7 EBC

Already it's done this :)

...and once it finishes and I add it, it looks like it might consolidate my WLP002 figures above 70% :)

OK I'm not using the yeast the brewery does but the rest of the recipe is pretty sound...oh well perhaps a bit too much caramalt, they use low colour maris otter, and only make one late hop addition...BUT at least it's in the spirit of it  Sample tastes yummy 8)

I'm having a pint of that right now.

I brewed an upscaled (45L) version of your Savvy on saturday. Samples taste yummy.

Added 600g of cara though because that's what was left in the bag (6.5kg of MO).

Will let you know how it turns out.

I gave the Savvy a full 4 weeks to take the edge off the hops and it went down well at a recent BBQ so hope you enjoy it too. This brew has attenuated 79% to 1.008  and tastes wonderful from the sample jar

I've had that happen with repitching slurry before - not to complain about it (though a 1060-odd brew did shoot down to near the 1010/1008 mark  \:D/ ). Looks a tasty one - seeing your all cascade brew reminds me that I must have a go at Townes IPA at some stage 8)

I can now vouch that Si's hopping schedule is bang on. First outing for my NS ale last night. Awesome hop character. Right up my street.

Will be trying other single hop brews along the same lines.

Cheers Si!

Had a goodly sample of this this afternoon, and would like to humbly suggest that this is a really good recipe, really good. I'll deffo be doing this again and bringing it to any comps I can find. It's a wonderfully bodied flavoursome and aroma filled pint of Hophead. Most chuffed, please do try if you want a cascade pale ale.

(I'm really pleased in case you couldn't tell :D :D :D , and this is after 9 days kegged and force carbed!)

I've bookmarked this recipe Si, sounds like a cracker. Do you treat with CRS?

Your attenuation data collection is impressive 8)

That looks good Si. If I remember correctly, less hops than the last effort too?

Yep, less hops but their intensity here is spot on. It doesn't have the tart edge Hophead does, perhaps due to increased caramalt and not using their yeast blend (Notts, S04, US05). Took another half tonight... :D Love it. Hophead IV will be tweak down on the caramalt to 2% and will be whatever ale yeast I'm using at the time, prolly WLP005. 8)
