Just tucked another brew up based on my recipe here:
clicky!
I changed it slightly to become the following:
4.25kg Maris Otter
200g Caramalt
200g Flaked Barley
40g Flaked Maize (chucked it in to use it up!)
Mash for 90min at ~66C
Hops:
Challenger 7.1% 90min 22g
Hallertauer Hersbrucker 2.1% 90min 40g
Hallertauer Hersbrucker 2.1% 15min 20g
Styrian Goldings 3.9% 15min 35g
Strian Goldings 40g 0min 40g
Yeast US-05.
Managed a good clear light coloured wort with pretty decent efficiency, though lost a load to the sheer volume of hops so should really have upped the grain bill to account for it. Still somewhere around 21-22L or so at 1046 in the fermenter so not all bad - should be enough for a corny's worth
Just finishing off a pint of mild before bed!

Good luck with it, thats one of the best beers you can get on cask up here IMO
I wonder if it's still Styrians they use to finish. I had a pint recently and I swear the aroma was slightly different. More grassy than usual (just as good as I remember the older version though).
& mild before bed, good call

Thanks - I had a few pints in Edinburgh a few years back and it was tasty! It's probably gonna be not quite the same as the original - the grain bill is a bit made up and it's probably going to be a percent or so higher in strength.The caramalt is a bit of a stab to give it a bit of body with the hop presence; flaked barley for a bit of head.
As for the yeast, I'm thinking that something like hopback might have been better, but I only had US05, S04 or windsor to choose from - US-05 should leave the hops to come through though, which is fine by me

(and it was already kicking into life this morning which is promising).
I'll have to keep an eye out for a bottle of the original round here (for research purposes only of course

)

I'll let you know how it turns out! (almost certainly not like the original!

)
In fact - I've just found Reaper's and Burtonbrewer's posts here:
clicky! - not a million miles away I guess. We'll see

Okay - so the report back on this one... first off - the not quite so good - it's not quite like B&T. Has some of the same taste, but I think not enough bitterness and maybe more late hop flavour than it should (though mine was a bit stronger than the original). Also, almost certainly US05 isn't right here for the clone - that may have affected the hop presence a bit too.
However

, the recipe is a good one - I took a corny on my stag weekend just gone, and everyone thought it was a winner (keg now empty...).It's a real tasty pale ale - interesting flavour from the hersbrucker and styrians that compliments the spicy challenger nicely.
Also, at this point, I must apologise to anyone present at the Swan at Fradley Junction last Saturday for my general inability to walk/speak/make any sense (apparently - so I'm told at least...)
