Something a bit simple but worthwhile.

3lb of Nettle tops (takes a bit of collecting, useful if you have a wife and daughter with thick gloves  )
4" piece of fresh ginger
Juice of 1 orange and lemon
500gms Honey
500 light spray malt
Unrefined demera sugar
10 litres cheapo asda water.

You need a big pot to boil the nettle tops down along with 3 litres of the water.

30 minutes later and they are done.

Squeezing every last drop of the wort out to the nettles (now wrapped in muslin)

All that's left of the nettles....................

......except for this steaming bucket of goodness.

Topped up to 10 litres, added all the honey, malt and enough sugar to bring it up to 1.045 OG,the juice and the grated ginger. Once it cooled down enough I added half a packet of SAFALE S04.

24hrs on, bubbling away nicely and quite an interesting aroma.

Nice one, I'll be interested in how this one turns out as I really want to do a nettle beer similar to the "Stinger" beer. Keep us updated with your progress.

Cheers

OG was 1040, fermented out to 1004, ended up a bit drier/less sweet than I intended, but first impressions it has the makings of a nice summer sup :D . Bottled 21 pints with extra sugar and I will leave to condition only a few days before putting out in the shed to mature for a few weeks.

Cheers
